Money Matters: Scriptural Lessons on Money

We must be sound in our perspectives and teachings of money.

Scriptural responsibility of a “pastor” is synonymous to that of a governor; it is literally a government position; government is exercised by law, which is the Book of Holy Scriptures; it is incumbent upon every leader to study all forms of information to show himself approved; it is this approval that deems him worthy of service to the congregation. When a man studies or is committed to continuous learning and is responsible for providing good information, THE MOST HIGH POWER approves his effort and gives him revelation. His commitment as a workman proves he can be trusted with increased responsibility.

Knowledge: Jeremiah 3:15, “And I (THE MOST HIGH POWER) will give you pastors according to mine heart (or according to my own desire and intent), which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding (relevant to the human experience).”

Wisdom & Understanding: Proverbs 4:7, Wisdom (or the application of information) is the principal thing (or the first thing in order of importance); therefore, get wisdom (which is a virtue that isn’t innate but can only be acquired. Wisdom is the soundness of an action or decision regarding the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment. It’s taking what you’ve learned and using it in beneficial ways. It’s not only about what you learn, but what you do with the information that’s important. Wisdom is also a high degree of emotional intelligence and emotional maturity): and with all thy getting get understanding (or comprehension of all information).”

Knowledge is knowing what to do.

Understanding is knowing how to do it.

Wisdom is knowing whether it should be done.

So then, knowledge, wisdom, and understanding are a prerequisite for leadership. Solomon, the king of all 12 tribes of Israel stated in Ecclesiastes 10:19money answereth all things (as the perpetual method of exchange in economies worldwide).” A leader must remain sober regarding the economic matters of his people. Nothing can truly change one’s natural circumstances like money. Solomon is emphasizing how important economic stability and financial literacy is to the success of a nation. Therefore, a leader’s standards and mindset regarding his nation’s money matters must be a high priority.
